Description

Description and Essential Functions

Supports both the Brokers Service function for Demand Response (Dial-A-Ride) service and day-to-day scheduling and dispatch functions for both volunteer and paid GMT drivers. Transportation brokered by GMT includes Medicaid non-emergency medical, Elderly and Disabled (E&D) grant programs, and general public fixed route transportation services.

 

Broker Services functions as follows:

  • Coordinates the volunteers for GMT Berlin Operations
  • Verifies volunteer manifests
  • Assists with preparing invoices for 3rd party billing and Elderly and Disabled (E&D) programs
  • Supports and assists the Broker Service department staff as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Dispatcher functions as follows:

  • Schedules and assigns drivers and buses
  • Schedules trips for passengers
  • Provides customer service to drivers and the public
  • Maintains records, logs, and schedules
  • Prepares detailed reports including manifests and daily Dispatch Sheets
  • Understands and assigns work in compliance with the Drivers' Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Communicates information via telephone, radio communication, and technology
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications
 

Education and/or Experience: : An Associate’s degree in Accounting; two (2) years of experience in a related field may be substituted for education. Thorough knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of the transit bus routes and the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Procedure Manual issued by the State of Vermont's Department of Health Access is preferred. Three (3) years as a transit driver or experience in a transit-related field is also preferred.

Essential Job Skills and Abilities: Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with a diverse population; work effectively in an environment with multiple competing priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google products including Google Mail. Strong verbal and written communication, ability to multi-task, highly organized, attention to detail, flexible, and the ability to maintain confidentiality inclusive of HIPAA requirements are required. Must be proficient in or have the ability to become proficient in complex Scheduling and Dispatch software and Microsoft Office Suite. Operates in a professional office environment; and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Frequent computer use and sitting are required.
