Description and Essential Functions
The Volunteer Community Driver Coordinator for Washington County will support GMT’s mission through the recruitment and retention of volunteer community drivers and support of program management.
- Recruits and retains volunteer community drivers, including identifying effective methods of recruitment
- Adds new volunteer community drivers to the software system and maintains accurate files on all volunteer community drivers; Enters any additional data necessary into computer systems
- Collects all insurance/vehicle information from volunteer community drivers; Keeps excel spreadsheet of all volunteer community driver information; Checks spreadsheet weekly to be sure all requirements for volunteer community drivers are up to date; Advises community drivers that they cannot drive if any paperwork is missing
- Works with Human Resources to perform background checks on all potential and existing volunteer community drivers on an annual basis; Keeps excel background check spreadsheet up to date
- Performs reference checks on all potential volunteer community drivers
- Provides an orientation for new volunteer community drivers to organizational policies and procedures.
- Makes Quality Control calls weekly on all volunteer community drivers on a random basis, especially new volunteer community drivers; Keeps accurate files of calls; Has discussions with GMT leadership and/or volunteer driver if any issues occur
- Holds an annual meeting with each individual volunteer community driver
- Plans and coordinates an annual Volunteer Appreciation Event honoring our volunteer community drivers’ important work
- Develops and updates marketing tools for the recruitment and retention of volunteer community drivers
- Coordinates volunteer community driver outreach efforts to local agencies
- Plans and coordinates volunteer community driver activities/events
- Attends any volunteer community driver related meetings as required
- Attends relevant training
- Provides administrative support by reporting data as requested
- Performs volunteer community driver verifications or review of verifications, as requested
- Assists volunteer community drivers with questions
- Maintains knowledge of bus routes and services
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications

- At least three years of experience in an administrative support role
- Customer service experience and/or outreach experience
- Strong analytical skills; interpersonal and customer service skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-stress environment
- Strong orientation to detail; ability to see the “big picture”
- Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
- Computer proficiency including use of Excel, Word, Google, Outlook and database management programs
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to learn Scheduling Software
- High level of confidentiality
- Ability to pass all required background checks
- Knowledge of Washington County community
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude
- High level of professionalism
Benefits
- Wage: Starting wage is $22.80 to $26.15 per hour, depending on experience.
- Time Off: 8.67 hours of paid time off accrued per pay period; equivalent to 5+ weeks off.
- Schedule: This is an on-site position, non-exempt (eligible for overtime) and will work primarily Monday - Friday, though nights and weekends may be a possibility, as needed
- Health Insurance: 92.5% paid health care coverage by GMT including medical, dental, vision, and prescription. 100% paid premiums for Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability by GMT.
- Savings: GMT offers 457 Retirement Plans. After one year, employees who contribute of 3% will be matched by GMT at 5% and employees who contribute 5% will be matched by GMT at 7%.
